When you begin a match in GLG, you will see a few different things displayed on the page, which we will outline here so your initial gameplay can go smoothly. You'll notice a scoreboard, a soccer pitch (field), and various action buttons you can utilize to play.
Scoreboard
The top bar (seen above) includes important information about the current match. You will see each player's coach, usernames, a bar for Team Morale, match results/score, and the timer/turn counter.
Soccer Pitch
The main feature on the pitch will be the players. They are distributed along all the field in alternate rows of your team (blue) and opponenet team (red).
Whoever has the ball (Left MF in this scenario) will be the first to take an action, which will be the first step in progressing the game forward. For each turn, a player will have 5 seconds to take a valid action, otherwise the game will randomly select one of the action for the player. There are three actions (Pass, Dribble or Shoot) to choose from as explained below:
- Pass: To pass the ball, click on the player you want to pass to. You can only pass the ball to your own team's players to the left/right or ahead in the pitch. Pass success chances are shown at bottom of player pog in green percentage.
- Dribble: To dribble, click on the center of pitch where you see the dribble success percentage indicator, which is where the player will be positioned after a successful dribble.
- Shoot: Shoot chances are shown just below the ball (player that holds the ball). To shoot, press and hold the ball and ball will be shot.
On each player, we can see various useful information:
- Roster Points (RP) (The big number on right side) tell you about the strength of a player without revealing it's strong and weak stats.
- Player Position (below the RP number) tells you the position of player either Goal Keeper (GK), Defender (DF), Mid Fielder (MF) or Forwards (FW).
- Level (below the player position) lets you know which level the player has achieved. Stats of players improve with level, so higher levels indicate better performance.
- Dynamic Stats are shown on left side of player pog when you hover over the player or they have the ball.
- Health (green color) - reduces by 0.5 every turn and if goes to zero if the player is injured.
- Stamina (orange color) - affects success chances and reduces as the player takes actions.
- Morale (yellow color) - affects success chances and is important at the team level.
Hopefully with this information, you will find navigating your matches a bit simpler. If you are finding that the stats of your players are negatively affecting your gameplay, consider editing your team's starting lineup using subs and reserves, removing and replacing players, or purchasing additional cards to expand your collection and choices for team selection.
